Dunwoody is a bedroom community in DeKalb County located 13 miles north of downtown Atlanta.  It was unincorporated until 2008, when the citizens of the area overwhelming voted to create the City of Dunwoody, population 39,583. The iconic Farmhouse, at the intersection of Mt. Vernon Rd. and Chamblee Dunwoody Rd., marks the heart of Dunwoody.  The Farmhouse serves as the Dunwoody Town Hall and is listed in the national register of historic properties. It currently serves as the headquarters for both the Dunwoody Preservation Trust and the Dunwoody Homeowners Association.  A series of subdivisions and neighborhoods dominate Dunwoody's landscape, including Dunwoody Club Forest, the Branches, Kingsley, Redfield, Springfield, Cambridge, Village Mill, Woodsong, Dunwoody North, and Mill Glen.

Dunwoody is home to the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts (PCID), the region's largest employer district and one of the largest Class A corporate office markets in the southeast. It has a large concentration of Fortune 500 companies, 125 companies with 100 or more employees, the state's largest concentration of medical facilities, and an estimated population that may be the region's largest by 2025. There are currently 115,000 jobs in the corridor, with 213,000 jobs expected between 2008 and 2013. Overall, it represents a $3 billion real estate investment in metro Atlanta. Perimeter Mall is the heart of the PCID, with anchor stores Macy's, Dillards, Bloomingdale's and Nordstroms.

Within walking distance of the Farmhouse is Dunwoody Village, a quaint Williamsburg architecture of shops and stores.
